Epiphany (in Greek means “manifestation”), or the 12th day of Christmas, falls on January 6 and marks the official end to the festive season for many Christians. Just as this Greek word “Epiphany” means manifestation, in this season, Christians celebrate 'the manifestation of God in human form through His Son Jesus Christ as the Light of the World.’ The first Sunday is dedicated to the Baptism of Jesus, and the last Sunday is celebrated as Transfiguration Sunday. In the West, Christians began celebrating the Epiphany in the 4th century, associating it with the visit of the Wise Men to Jesus.
During this Epiphany season, ICF will embark on a new 3-part series on An Oasis For The Needy. May the Word of God inspire ICF to share her blessings with those in need and the poor in this city. We want to learn to serve the needs of this city by developing relevant, meaningful, and maybe out-of-the-box ways to be an oasis for the needy while keeping faith with our Christian values and principles.
When we become channels of blessings to those in need, we are, in a way, manifesting the compassionate Jesus Christ to the community.
The liturgical colour is white for the first and last Sundays, and green for the rest of the season. The colours stand for life that comes from Jesus Christ.
