LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLES – THE HOPE OF CHRISTMAS

This year the Season of Advent begins on the 3rd December. This Christian Season teaches us the lessons of waiting; anticipating; hope; patience; to watch and be ready, prepare – in view of waiting for Christ’s birth and the King’s Second Coming.

This year, the Season of Advent begins on December 3rd. This Christian Season teaches us the lessons of waiting, anticipating, hope, patience, watching and being ready, and preparing—in view of waiting for Christ’s birth and the King’s Second Coming.

We can also follow the tradition of lighting the Advent Candles this season:
On the first Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of Hope
On the second Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of Peace
On the third Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of Joy
On the fourth (or Christmas Eve) Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of Love

Finally, on Christmas Eve or Christmas Sunday, we light the candle of Christ that reminds us that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Light of the World.

What have we been waiting for? A light of hope of a Saviour that will save us from this world of darkness. The Saviour has come and so let the earth receive her king! Just as the Saviour’s first coming, the second coming of the King is worth waiting for.

May the Christ of Christmas save us all from the sins that harm our troubled world in these challenging times.

The Bible proclaims to the world: “She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21, NCV
