Today is Ash Wednesday (22 February). It marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent. It is a time to pray, fast, reflect and repent – returning to the Lord with our whole heart.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues until Holy Thursday, just before Easter. Disciples of Christ seize the opportunity to abstain, fast, and/or do other good works during this time until Easter Sunday.
Pentecost Sunday (this year happens to fall on the 19th May) in the Christian Calendar commemorates the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. It occurs 50 days after Easter (as in Acts 2:1-13).
